Challenge

Touring environments place enormous strain on hardware. Green Hippo needed an enclosure that could withstand the rigours of touring, provide a distinctive visual identity aligned with their brand and offer quick access for servicing and upgrades.

 

Our Solution

Carallon engineered a bespoke enclosure system that redefined industry expectations.
The touring‑ready design consisted of:

  • a lightweight aluminium inner cage for structural rigidity and reduced transport weight
  • powerful cooling architecture optimised for high‑performance components easy‑access filtration system to maintain reliability in dusty, smoky touring environments
  • a custom-designed modular back panel enabling rapid configuration changes and integration of additional electronics such as EDID management tools
  • a striking, brand‑aligned exterior designed to stand out from standard rack‑mount hardware

Impact
Green Hippo debuted their new product at the PLASA tradeshow, immediately capturing industry attention. It delivered a first‑of‑its‑kind touring solution that was durable, serviceable, and visually iconic.

I first encountered Carallon back during the early days of Green Hippo and the launch of our first Hippotizer media server. One of our biggest challenges was ensuring our media server chassis could withstand the rigors of life on the road. When it came time for a major upgrade, we turned to Carallon to design a bespoke case—and they delivered something truly groundbreaking. It was a first for the industry: a lightweight aluminium inner cage, a powerful cooling system with easy-access filtration, and a modular back panel that allowed us to integrate additional electronics like the Parrot EDID manager for optimal connectivity. In true industry fashion, the new case debuted at the PLASA tradeshow. Carallon were amazing then, and they’ve only gotten better. Their team of talented designers and engineers consistently deliver exceptional work, and we’re proud of the projects we’ve collaborated on over the years.
