Carallon is delighted to have completed the assessment process and be recognised as a Certified B Corporation (B Corp). This was a comprehensive assessment conducted by B Lab, the not-for-profit organisation behind the B Corp movement. Carallon was rated as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent Carallon’s commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit. The process enabled Carallon to demonstrate its employee-ownership culture, and commitment to joining a social and environmental movement encompassing over 7000 companies across the world.
The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. To complete the certification, the company will legally embed their commitment to purpose beyond profit in their company articles.
Carallon achieved a strong score of 92 points.
Since becoming wholly employee-owned in 2020, Carallon has worked in partnership with all its employees, to ensure the core values of innovation, quality and flexibility remain at the heart of the business. Taking the step to become a B Corp reflects the combined efforts of everyone at Carallon.
Carallon’s B Corp celebration event was led jointly by the directors and the representatives of the Employee Council. Every employee had the chance to ask questions, share ideas, and be part of the next steps towards further improvement in the 5 B Corp impact areas.
Carallon’s Chief Executive, Paul Watson, comments:
I am delighted that our efforts have been formally recognised and that Carallon is now a Certified B Corporation. Our journey truly began a few years ago with our transition to becoming a fully employee-owned company. We believe that business can be a positive source for change, and we look forward to continuing our journey of balancing profit with clear social and environmental purpose for the benefit of all.
